Central Valley Native Runs for Supervisor

Steve Colangelo is a lifelong resident of California’s Central Valley. Raised on a 48-acre farm, where his family grew grapes and later hay, Steve learned the valuable lessons of hard work, perseverance, and responsibility. Over the years, Steve has demonstrated these same values in his business career. With his farming, small business, and community experience, he will get things done and deliver for our neighborhoods as our county supervisor.

Early Career

Early in his career, Steve Colangelo worked as an announcer and on-air personality on KROY, KWOD 106, and KGNR News Radio 1320, where he was known on-air as “Steve Anthony.” He enjoys recalling his days on the radio with long-time Central Valley residents that still remember him as a popular radio personality.

While developing his on-air career, Steve also served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Sacramento Police Department.

In 1985 Steve moved to Stockton to start Metro Expositions, where he proudly produced Home and Garden shows in Lodi, Stockton, Modesto, and Merced. In 1992 Steve and his wife Karen founded American Convention and Exposition Services, which has played a crucial role in helping to produce more than 200 successful events across California. A dozen years later, Steve and Karen purchased Galaxy Rentals and expanded a small retail business into American Event Rentals, a leading event supply company in the Central Valley for weddings, graduation parties, and other important community and family events.

Steve and Karen have immersed themselves in their community. Many community organizations asked Steve to take on leadership roles. He is a past president of the Stockton San Joaquin Convention and Visitors Bureau and a two-time president of the Stockton Asparagus Festival. He also served as Financial Vice President of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. Steve is the proud recipient of the American Rental Association Person of the Year Award, Region Nine. Steve also served as Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee and coordinated annual visits to lawmakers in Washington D.C. for the American Rental Association. Steve and his wife, Karen, believe the best way to measure the strength of a community is by its people. That is why they are so proud to have lived, worked, and raised their family among us. Steve and Karen live in Linden and have a son and daughter. They recently celebrated their thirty-third wedding anniversary.
